it is not unusual for a space (top arrow) to appear between the top and bottom ends of an AR after assembly. the problem with our AR10 A4C was that once the pushpin (bottom arrow) was locked down, the two parts were not fixed in place. There are aftermarket widgets like the AccuWedge that help keep the two parts from moving, but we thought the amount of slop in the fit of this carbine was unacceptable.
The flattop rail made the AR10 A4C more versatile. For our tests, we used a Yankee Hill machine riser and B-Square Utility rings to mount a 30mm Leupold Mark 4 LR/T variable-power scope.
The Armalite featured a Picatinny-rail gas block (arrow). This gave the operator several options regarding choice of front sight or mounting accessories, such as lights or lasers.
