The arrow points to a damaged bit on the right side of the hammer. When we tore the gun completely down we filed this, then used abrasives to give it an even, matte-white finish.
This photo shows some remaining file marks, but the damage has been filed away.
We next made it look like this photo, which shows the final finish on the left side.
