Slightly less visible sight bars were a minor mark down that could be corrected with the addition of better optics. Overall, the CZ HC-P gets the job done in an effective, economical manner.

A nice accessory that comes standard on the CZ HC-P model, this Picatinny rail could serve as a solid base for optics or other items that would fine tune the shotgun into a quality home defense firearm.
Colors in the rear sight did not stand out as well as those in the Stevens sights. We felt that our ability to accurately place shots on the targets was only slightly diminished by the visibility factor.
We had some recoil concerns about the hollow, plain stock with its solid recoil pad, but we found the CZ HC-P performed well and shoulder shock was limited.
The HC-P designation on the receiver designates the shotgun as a “Horde Control Pump” in keeping with the wide-spread concept of potentially having to stop throngs of zombies or other imaginary attackers.
