The Coltís ambidextrous safety proved reliable in hundreds of manipulations. The Colt controls are well laid out. They invite rapid manipulation. The Colt receiver, we felt, is more compact, and this gives the Colt better balance in combat drills.
The Troy handguards left a mark. Perhaps gloves or covers should be used with the Colt. Of course, you can vary hand pressure on the rail, but the front C-clamp shooting hold requires firm contact. This was less of an issue in lightly braced barricade fire, but still worth noting.
Simple, robust and accurate, we liked the Coltís rear sight. Optics would help the gunís accuracy, but the front sight on the gas block interferes.
