Beretta Launches Silver Pigeon I Over/Under, A400 Xcel Sporting Semiauto

(GunReports.com) — For 2011, Beretta has debuted the Silver Pigeon I over/under shotgun and the A400 Xcel sporting shotgun. The Silver Pigeon 1’s MSRP is $2075; the A400 Xcel has an MSRP of $1725.

The Silver Pigeon’s top mounted, dual conical-locking lugs tighten over the life of the shotgun, improving lock-up. The locking lugs sit high on the low-profile receiver, and deeply set barrels bring the sight plane in line with a shooter’s hands.

Chrome-lined, cold-hammer-forged barrels feature the Optima Bore HP® geometry, and the satin-nickel 3-in receiver features extensive English-style scroll and floral engravings.

The blue receiver on the new A400 Xcel sporting shotgun distinguishes it from other semi-automatic shotguns.

Incorporating elements from the A400 Xplor Unico and Xplor Light, the A400 Xcel uses the Blink® operating system, which Beretta claims will cycle 36% faster than any other shotgun. Other features include the recoil dissipating Kick-Off® system; the Micro-Core recoil pad, and cold-hammer-forged barrels with Optima Bore HP® geometry.

Competition shooters will find two features unique to the new A400 Xcel. The Gun Pod device delivers a digital readout of the ambient air temperature, the cartridge pressure of the round fired and the overall number of rounds fired through the shotgun.

The Balance Cap System includes three interchangeable weights, allowing shooters to balance the shotgun to their hands.
