Senator Wants Out-of-State CCW Holders in Jersey to Go to Jail

New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez wants out-of-state concealed-carry-weapons (CCW) permit holders who enter his state with a firearm to go to jail.

“People violate our law — we are a state that has decided that we are against concealed carry weapons. We have stronger gun laws. We believe we have made the states safer as that,” Menendez told The Daily Caller. “They violate our laws - then whatever is the law, and they are found guilty of it, they should pay the consequence.”

CCW Detours

When pressed about travelers with CCW permits who may be detoured into his state by accident, he replied: “They know what our state’s law is. They should know what our state law is if they want to carry a concealed weapon. I don’t think that they just simply get detoured and they should think in advance when they are traveling.”

He continued, “I find it amazing that Republicans who believe in state rights all of a sudden have a problem observing the state rights of those states that think that stronger gun laws is the way to protect citizens and that’s what I have to say about it.”

"Senator Menendez is one of the most anti-gun politicians in the country," said Gun Tests Editor Todd Woodard. "So I'm not surprised he wants CCW permittees from other parts of the country to go to jail. Even though there's federal law protecting travelers, it's unwise to stop in New Jersey if you're carrying firearms."

Woodard strongly urged travelers whose paths might cross into the Garden State to consult the NRA's Guide To The Interstate Transportation Of Firearms before hitting the road.

Also, check the New Jersey State Police's website regarding transporting firearms through the state.

Of course if you enter NJ as an illegal alien, you can sign up for welfare and register to vote!

Hey Bob, have you heard about London? You can't carry a pocket knife. So now, the biggest thug wins. All you are doing is forcing is disarming lawful citizens. I'm sure that the thugs are in full support of Bobs plan.
The people that Bob is trying to protect are the people who will be hurt the most by this action. A thug has no problem attacking a 89 pound granny because he knows that she can not stop him. Congratulations Bob now Granny is a victim.
Without Bobs law the thug has to think, " is she a push over or is Granny carrying a 9mm in her purse?"
Bob what seems to be missing is, criminals are lazy. They want easy money. If they were industrious and willing to work hard they would be earning a pay check and not have any need for criminal activities, just like the rest of us.
Bob I am one of the biggest fans of "States Rights" in the country and I believe that your plan will pass judicial review. The good news is, in the next election you will pick up the criminal vote.
As for the rest of us , DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY IN NEW JERSEY. See I believe in "citizens Rights" to protect themselves even more.

The rights of a state don't include the ability to negate the Constitution's guarantee of the right of citizens to arms.

The DOJ made a mistake in not continuing to prosecute Menendez for corruption. They evidently thought they had enough to convict him the first time -- they should have tried again.

And he has the nerve to take photo with America Flag behind him. One off reason that I moved out to NC. If he truly represented this country and started to inforce the immigration laws he, and all his cronies, Democrates would get voted right out of all their positions, and he knows that as well as a lot of people in NJ.

I am certain for a reasonable "campaign donation" the good Senator will become more flexible. I moved to Georgia with my family to escape politicians like him. I love carrying my Glock 19 MOS.

I will say tho that Georgia does not care if you live in Colorado if you are caught here with a joint. So much for personal freedom.

Senator Menendez conveniently forgets he is talking about restricting a Constitutional right. The SCOTUS long ago determined the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and cannot be nullified by the states. The 10th Amendment does not give the states the right to nullify a Constitutionally recognized right. It does quite he opposite. It clearly states "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." If we accept Mr. Menendez's logic, then the state of New Jersey can ignore any part of the Constitution it desires and deny anyone those rights it deems unsuitable. Thus, if the state can deny, curtail, or regulate your right to bear arms, it can do so to your right of assembly, free speech, religious choice, vote, etc. And it may impose these restrictions based upon your sex, color, national origin, or any other reason it chooses. Welcome to the modern Jim Crow world of NJ.

This is no surprise coming from a lib like this, especially now since the snowflakes woke up from the stoned stupper and voted in the king lib for governor.
This is only one of many reasons people are running from NJ.

Does mr. Mendenez use that same logic on illegal aliens entering his state?? They know our laws yet the break them by coming her illegally. Will he put those who violate our immigration laws in jail too??
