NRA Wins and Loses in Pennsylvania Court

0

A Pennsylvania court sided with NRA and issued a permanent restraining order against two of the city of Philadelphia’s municipal gun control measures enacted in April.

However, a Philadelphia Common Pleas judge ruled in favor of three city laws passed two months ago by City Council, including the requirement of city residents to report lost and stolen guns to police.

Judge Jane Cutler Greenspan tossed out city laws that limited the number of guns a resident could purchase to one a month and banned assault weapons completely. The measures violate Pennsylvania’s state preemption laws, passed by the state legislature to maintain uniformity of gun laws.
