Over at our sister site GunReports.com, there’s an extensive eyewitness review of the recent Supreme Court March 2 oral arguments in McDonald, et al., v. Chicago, et al. (08-1521). Lawyer Lyle Denniston of Akin Gump gave what I thought was an even-handed account of the scene, moreso than what I got from people who lean our way on the 2nd Amendment.

Tim J: 9mm Revolvers Aplenty
Ruger’s very nice single-action New Model Blackhawk Convertible is available (MSRP is $636, but some sellers offer new ones for under $500) in a version that can chamber 357 Magnum/38 Special rounds in one 6-round cylinder, and 9mm rounds in a second cylinder. Barrel lengths available are 4.62 inches and 6.5 inches. You can change cylinders quickly and easily without tools. I used to own one of these which, unfortunately, I sold when I needed the cash. It was the most accurate handgun I’ve ever fired. I managed one five-shot group at 25 feet that I can cover with a quarter. There’s another version with cylinders for 45 Long Colt and 45 ACP, with barrel lengths of 4.62 inches and 5.5 inches, also a six-shooter, at the same price.

An item on BUSINESS WIRE was laughable if you favor civil rights for gunowners:The release was from the so-called Legal Community Against Violence, publicizing an event entitled, McDonald v. Chicago: Stakeholders to Discuss Upcoming Supreme Court Handgun Case. Notable for their absence, of course, was any pro-2nd Amendment balance, including the person with the most direct stake, Otis McDonald himself.

In flyover country, out on the fringe where I live with my fellow 'yahoos' who don’t like to be told how to live, there is an interesting rebellion going on. We 'Tenthers' are pushing back.Currently, 22 states have passed or are considering bills known as Firearms Freedom Acts. Such bills declare that guns, accessories, and ammunition made within a state, sold within that state and kept in that state are not subject to federal laws or regulations under the Interstate Commerce Clause of the Constitution. In sum, the states are seeking to nullify unconstitutional federal laws under the 10th Amendment.
