Blackhawk Doesn’t Deserve an A-

I think the Ruger Blackhawk Convertible does not deserve the break, the A- grade, your reviewer gave it. I bought mine — my third Blackhawk — 30 years after Ruger introduced this revolver. That should have been time enough for the company to correct this revolver’s poor handling of 9mm cartridges. I had great hope for a plinking revolver that would fire affordable ammunition, would not just drill through cans or plastic bottles as 22 LRs do, and would not leave lead in my barrel. I bought Hogue hardwood grips. Migration (bullet jump) repeatedly jammed a single-action revolver and drove me nuts. And don’t blame the customer/shooter/victim/sucker. Until Ruger corrects this, no one should buy this gun. I reluctantly sold it to a friend. I think he stuck to rimmed cartridges. I’m so forgiving that I subsequently bought Ruger’s PPSh-41 look-alike carbine and an SP101 in 9mm.
