GunAuction to Watch: Left-Handed Deer Hunter’s Dream

( — Auction 11278485 at is a left-handed deer hunter’s dream: a Remington Model 721 in .243 Win. This customized left-hand bolt-action rifle has several indications that it was built by a true rifleman: a nice-looking walnut Monte Carlo pistol grip stock, a 26-inch medium-heavy-taper barrel with no rust, wear, scrapes, or scratches, and a 4-pound trigger pull. And this: The rifle is a custom chambering of the .243 Win. cartridge because the Model 721 was not made in that round.

Elsewhere, the finish looks original and is in very good condition, with a few minor dings and scrapes and some roughness in the surface of the cheekpiece. There is a small crack on top of the stock just above the Monte Carlo cheekpiece. It does not extend to the butt, and it looks like it can be repaired. The blued barrel and receiver finishes are excellent. The buttstock has a white-line buttplate and a black-plastic nose cap.

The bore is excellent, shiny with sharp rifling. The barrel is drilled and tapped for a scope and a peep sight. The bolt and magazine follower are knurl finished. The magazine floor plate drops down for easy unloading, and the magazine holds four rounds. Included is a Straight Shooter Standard Grade leather rifle sling and the Buehler scope mount and rings that fit this rifle.

The seller is Golden Bear Services, Inc., a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer in the Denver Metro area. Golden Bear has marketed exclusively on Auction Arms since 1999, and the company’s feedback exceeds 1100 positives.
