Taurus Defender 605 2-60539NS Special/357 Magnum

The revolver’s satin stainless finish is attractive. Unlike the highly polished Smith & Wesson 640 Pro, the Defender and the Boxer revolvers each use a matte finish. The Defender features rubber grips.

Charter Arms Boxer 53620 38 Special

The revolver tested is the new Charter Arms Boxer 38 Special. This is an outgrowth of the Charter Arms Bulldog revolver. Charter Arms has offered six-shot 32-caliber revolvers on the five-shot 38 frame and five-shot 32 Magnum revolvers, as well as various rimfire models.

Walther PDP F-Series 4-Inch 2842734 9mm Luger

The grip is the story with the F-Series pistol, and we found the grip is nicely textured and offers an ideal balance of abrasion and adhesion.

Canik TP9 Elite SC HG5610T 9mm Luger

The pistol is supplied with a hard-plastic case. Two backstraps, a standard and extended magazine, mounting plate for a red dot, Allen wrench, a manual, and a credible plastic holster are included.

Diamondback Sidekick DB0500A001 22 LR/22 WMR

The Sidekick’s switchable cylinders are quite an innovation. The double-action trigger press is nothing to write home about, while the single-action trigger press is easily the best of the test. The pistol is accurate enough for most uses. We found sight regulation to be slightly off, but it would have been easily fixed.

Heritage Rough Rider Tactical Cowboy RR22B6-TH 22 LR/22 Magnum

We really liked this inexpensive but useful revolver. Accuracy is good to excellent, and the sights are the best of the test. The ability to mount a red-dot sight is very interesting. This is a lot of gun for the money.

Ruger Wrangler Birdshead 2030 22 LR

The Wrangler is a well-made handgun. There is no faulting its reliability. The Wrangler Birdshead handles well and is fast into action. The problem is the sights. The sights simply fade out and are difficult to see, making its practical accuracy the poorest of the three revolvers tested.
