LAPD Ordered to Make CCW Policies Available at Stations

(GunReports.com) -- Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Terry Green granted a motion in the National Rifle Association and California Rifle and Pistol Association-financed case against the City of Los Angeles, forcing LAPD to disclose what it takes to get a concealed carry weapon permit in the City of Los Angeles on June 9.

NRA Files Suit Against Unconstitutional Ban on Carrying Firearms for Self-Defense in Illinois

(GunReports.com) -- The National Rifle Association is funding and supporting a lawsuit that challenges the constitutionality of Illinois’ complete and total ban on carrying firearms for self-defense outside the home. The case, filed last week in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, is Shepard v. Madigan. The lead plaintiff is church treasurer Mary Shepard; joining her is the Illinois State Rifle Association, the NRA’s state affiliate.

University of Kentucky Gun Owner Fired Over Gun in Car

(GunReports.com) -- The University of Kentucky has fired a graduate student and former anesthesia technician, Michael Mitchell, for keeping a gun in his car a mile away from the university hospital where he was employed, according to the Gun Owners of America. The university then proceeded to try to deny Mitchell unemployment compensation by claiming, unsuccessfully, that he was fired for misconduct. A hearing officer found against the University of Kentucky and in favor of Mitchell.
