Attention: Important Kel-Tec Sub-2000 Safety Recall Notice

Kel-Tec has recently identified an issue with its SUB-2000 rifles that could potentially cause the barrel to rupture when a cartridge is fired and could result in serious personal injury.

"I want to alert Gun Tests readers about a recall of a portion of SUB‐2000s that were manufactured in 2017," said Editor Todd Woodard. "All costs associated with the recall of your firearm shall be covered by Kel‐Tec."

According to a Kel-Tec statement, an issue with the "heat treatment of certain steel tubes received from a third‐party supplier from which the barrels for a limited number of Kel‐Tec SUB‐2000 rifles were manufactured," may rupture the barrels when firing cartridges. The safety of our customers is our primary concern, so Kel‐Tec has voluntarily initiated this recall because of the possibility of a barrel rupturing."

My Sub2000 was recalled so I went through the online process. I was thinking the process of the RMA label would be printed out (Amazon style), but never saw that option. I called Kel-Tec and they said it takes 2 to 3 weeks for them to (get this) snail mail me an RMA label! The employee seemed frustrated that I would expect a label right away (but WHY not?). Anyway, he must've had a change of heart because I received the RMA label via email the next day! So my question is, does anyone know how long the turn around time is from Kel-Tec back to the customer?

My sub 2000 was recalled. I got my shipping label and sent the rifle back to kel tek. I am not sure how long it's going to take them to correct the issues. Kel tek told me they will ship my rifle directly to my home via fed ex and someone over 21 will need to sign for it.

Has anyone out there with an affected rifle received their returned shipping label yet?
