Smith & Wesson Wheelgun in 45 ACP: We’d Buy the M625

This excerpt from the June 1995 issue of Gun Tests shows that Smith & Wesson's 45 ACP M625 worked well enough, but the double-action revolver had drawbacks, which we'd tolerate.

A half-moon clip, like the one in the right side of the cylinder, serves as a temporary rim to facilitate extraction. The Model 625 can be loaded without clips, as are the three rounds on the left, but the extractor isn’t capable of removing them.

There are two schools of thought in handgun ballistics. One favors medium-caliber high-velocity rounds, like the 357 Magnum or +P 9mm. The other favors large-caliber slow-moving bullets, like the 45 ACP.
