The Department of Justice recently created a Second Amendment Enforcement Task Force to protect American citizens’ constitutional right to possess firearms.

“For too long, the Second Amendment, which establishes the fundamental individual right of Americans to keep and bear arms, has been treated as a second-class right. No more,” a DOJ statement said. “It is the policy of this Department of Justice to use its full might to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.”

The Second Amendment Task Force will advance President Trump’s agenda on gun legislation while easing regulation on ownership laws.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi will chair the special unit, while Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will serve as vice chair.

Staff from the Offices of the Associate Attorney General, Solicitor General, Civil Division and Civil Rights Division in the DOJ, the FBI, and the Criminal Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will also participate.

Here’s the complete statement regarding the creation of the 2nd Amendment Task Force at the Department of Justice:

The Task Force will be further composed of representatives from my personal staff, the Office ofthe Deputy Attorney General, the Office of the Associate Attorney General, the Office ofthe Solicitor General, the Civil Division, the Civil Rights Division, the Criminal Division, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Federal Bureau oflnvestigation, and any other components or representatives that I may from time to time designate to assist in the Task Force’s labors.
